23 Dec Going Home and back to a warmer place!

At this point of writing, in the relative warm of my home in Singapore, I have more or less forgotten how cold Jeju on our last day was. All I remember was the grey skies, snow flurries that goes sideways  as though they originate from the sea 4 km away and semi-transparent road and slushy wheel marks as traffic make their way to the airport.

We had a lot of apprehension. The Spark was left in the garage for 1 day. Plus the tyre with the low pressure. Would we see a flat when the Spark emerged from the lift system?

Thank God all looked well.

9am. Light snow, slush pile in front of the hotel. We loaded the car and planned a petrol stop 2 km down. It was the longest slowest drive, in L mode. None of us talked.

At the bend near the airport, we dropped by SK oil (on our side of the road) and did a top up (29000 ₩).

Ok, another 890m to go before Lotte.  Pat joined the motorway, ambled along and almost missed a red light, obscured by snow. We have proven the ABS in the beat up Spark worked. Hope we did not get a ticket, but so thankful nothing untoward happened. Definitely could do better the next time.

In the safety of Lotte car rental, we unloaded, made a complaint about the tyre, got our refund for the tyre man and made our way to Jeju airport.

All domestic flights were cancelled. 2 international ones were axed. We were early, as usual.  We waited with bated breath to see what will happen to TR813.

We were first in the queue at Scoot desk to check in our luggage. Freed of our stuff we went to the restaurants above for a leisurely meal (22000 ₩ ). That was my last seaweed guk set and Pat's veg bibimbap. We ended our stay in Jeju with a humongous bingsu (15000 ₩ ).

Clearing immigration was a breeze. Time passed so quickly we had little time to shop. At the small duty free shop. we got a pack of ginseng jelly that we like , 60 sticks for 67000 ₩ (duty free). It was a good deal!

The plane was delayed for more than an hour for deicing. We had the most rough take-off in travel memory, due to the snow blizzard and crosswinds.

Scoot has no entertainment. I mistakenly downloaded movies with no English subtitles and was bored to tears with no entertainment inflight.

We touched down after a long wait for the shuttle bus. Nonetheless we are glad to make it home. This trip has been quite an experience and will stay so for a long while.
